HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-05-06 Board of Selectmen Minutes 48MAY 6~ 1974 The Board of Selectmen held their regular meeting on this date with all members present; Sel- ectmen John F. Coady, Joseph A. Gnthrie with Chairman John P. Kirk presiding. The warrant and minutes were approved as submitted. JUROR: Joseph P. Lawton, 90 Sutton Street, was drawn to serve on the Jury, at Salem, June 3 Sitting. RE-LOCATIONS: The Board approved the relocation of six poles on Chestnut Street. No hearing necessary. SWEENEY: Letter received from Att. Willis requesting permission for his client, Ben Sweency, to store articles used in his business on property owned by him on North Main Street. The Board voted to request a meeting with Atty. Willis, Ben Swaeney, Chief of Police and the Building Inspector to discuss the matter iku-ther. FENCE-BROOKSIDE APTS: Letter from Building Inspector ad~-lsed the Board that he had been assured by John Gaffney, owner of the Brookside townhouses, that he would ins~ fences around both the sw~.m~ing pool and tennis courts. A chain link fence would be contructed the entire length of Cochi- chewwick Brook where it flows through his property. The Board voted to receive same and have copy of letter sent to petitioners. HOME CARE SERVICE ~T.~.OCATION: A let%er from Town Counsel stated that it was proper for the Council On Aging to use the sum of $1700. for the purpose of obtaining services for the Elderly. They voted to send copy of letter to G. Everson, Chair~n, and advising him of the vote of the Selectmen whereby they endorsed the Town's participation in the Home Care Service System for the MerrY--ok V~I ey. ~ECEIVED: Letter from Mass. Electric Co. re fuel adjustment charges. Letter from Crisway Tire Inc. re muncipal truck and tire acquisitions. Copies to all depts. Request for data from Mary Newman, Divisiom of E~plo2ment Security; referred to T. Treasurer. Letter from Civil Service re certification of xmmes from Reserve list; referred to Chief Lawlor. Letters from Chief Daw and Chief Lawlor requesting additionsl information on Emergency No. 911. Selectman Guthrie will contact New England Tel. & Tel. representative. Letter from Gulf ~ 1 Co. re reduction of gasoline price. Copy of letter fro~= J. Lyons to Director of Accounts re town meeting articles passed. APPOINTI~ENTS: Chairman Kirk suggested the meeting date of May 28, 1974 to make the annual appointments over which the Selectmen have jurisdiction. It was so voted. Reporter will advised readers that written applications indicating interest in appointment are requested by the Board. GRAVES REGISTRATION OFFICER: The Board appointed James A. Sweeney, 52 Farrwood Avenue, Graves Registration Officer,on this date due to the close proximity of Nemerial Day. LICE~SING CON~ffSSIONEBS: CLASS III LICENSE: Application received from Ws.lter D. Be~tsle, President of Anchor Auto Parts, Inc. for a Class &li license on premises at 110 Sntton'St. Hearing was set for May 28, 1974, 7:30 p.m. abutters ~11 be notified and hearing advertised. JUNE LICENSE: Board approved the renewal of a Junk License, Town-Wide for Peter Aziz, 84 Inuis Street. The Board convened for a meeting with the Town Garage Building~qmmtttee. . · M.
