Coady with Chairman John P. Kirk presiding. The warrant and minutes were approved as submitted. POLICE CAR BI-~: Two bids were submitted: Shawsheen Motor Mart, Inc. -~12,077.00, total,andManzi Dodge, $14,035.00, total. The bids were for 3 police cars and 1 compact car. The bids were referred to Chief Labeler for specification check. Contract will be awarded June 3, 1974. TAG DAY: Permission granted for the Green Berets Band to hold a Tag Day, May 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m at the North Andover Mall. NT. li4TRAFFIC: A letter from County Planner, Thomas J. Cleary, stating that vehicles were net stopping when the school bus was loa$iDg~and i~lashing lights were on, at the intersection of Berry St. and Rt. 114. The Board~8~end copy of letter to Chief Lawlor and to' the bus coordin- ator, Philip Clark for investigation of the matter. GR. LAW. CO~TY COUNCIL: Letter received from the above-named advising the Selectmen ofall their activities. HOME~'ER USER CHARGES: Referred to the Public Works..a letter from Camp Dresser &McEee re home owner user PAVEMENT FUNDING: Letter from Commissioner of Public Works re funding for pavement markings forwarded to the Highway Surveyor with letter requesting. he take whatever action that would benefit the town TRENCH EXCAVATION: Copy of letter received re a trench excavation made by the Mass. Electric Co. at the end of a driveway, residence of M. Anthony Lally, 245 Johnson St. which he considered dangerous. Copy referred to the Highway Surveyor who will be requested to investigate the matter and report to the Board. SPECIAL E~UCATION COUNCIL: A notice from Mass. League of Cities & Towns requested applications from interested people who would like to serve on the new Special Education Law Council. Copy ~r~s sent to the school department. FENCE CO~,~LAINT: , Reports from Chief Lawlor and Building Inspector stated that, in Chief ~pinion, the fence erected on the property of Mrs. Pinto on Fernwood Street did not interfere with the traffic at the intersection of Mablin Ave. and Fernwood Street and the Building Inspector also said since there were ns fence laws in North Andover, the only jurisdiction he would have ing a fence would be in connection with a swimming pool. Copies of the reports were sent to complainant, Frank Conte. ~STBROOKAUTO BODY: 'At a hearingheldwiththe Licensing Commissioners, residents of the Ashland St. area were voicing their objections loudly for the dismantled junk cars surrounding the Westbrook Auto Body Shop and the noise nuisance it created. The Board directed a letter be sent to the Building Inspector to investigate the matter. P~GISTRAS: Bmr del Registras met with Selectmen rehiringof janitors when pells are open, andtheir rate of pay. It was decided that the Registras should pay Janitors as billed and the two Boards would ~pdate the gra~of pay before the primaries in September. LICENSING CO~SSIONERS: CAB LICENSE: Barbara Jolly, 100 OsgoodSt., applied for a taxi cab license which she stated the state required of her in order to continue transporting welfare recipients to and from hospitals andclinics. The Board forwarded the application to Town Counsel for his recommendation as to whether it was a proper license to issue. CHINA BLOSSOM MANAGER: The Board accepted notification of the transfer of China Blossom Manager from Atty. Norman Brisson to Atty. Robert J. White, 3 Maplewood Terrace, Haverhill, Mass.and approved.
