Selectman Joseph A. Guthrie with Chairman John F. Coady presiding. Selectman John P. Kirk
absent. The Warrant and minutes were approved as suhnitted.

STREET CLOSE-OFF:
Letter from Chief Lawlor advised the Board that he had no objections to having Pleasant St.
closed off, from Stevens Street to Great Pond P~ad, during the Jaycees Winter Carnival on
February § and 9. The Board directed a letter be sent to Chief Lawlor to implement the re-
quest.
CAMPION HALL STUDY COMMITTEE:
Copy of letter to Rev. William Gutndon, S.J. from Pat Trembly, Chairperson, Campion Hall
Study Committee, wes submitted to the Board for appro~'al before being sent. The Board
so approved. Also received, for files and study, letter from Mrs. Trombly re disposition
of Campion Hall buildings and estate, and a report of their first meeting.
VOC SCHOOL BUDGET:
Approved annual V cc School Budget received. The Board authorized Chairman Coady to sign
and approve budget after consulting with Advisory Board. Copy to be sent to R. Holland,
Advisory Board representative to Voc School'.
RETIREE,S INSURANCE:
letter from Town'Treasurer advised the Board that acceptance of Sec. 9F, Ch. 32B of the
General Iaws would make 4% retirees, at the present time, eligible to have their group life
policy increased hy $1000. and would also be eligible for $2000 accidahtal death and dis-
memberment insurance. At current rates (1.$$ per 1000 life and .12 per 1000 A' D & D) 'the
cost to the town would be $43%.24, annually. Acceptance of this Act would constitute a
change in our group life contract which means that the carrier could recalculate rates for
· the entire town employee group. Provision for acceptance of' the act rests with the Board
of Selectman, or By majority vote, if placed on the ballot of the Annual Town Meeting. The
Board voted to have Staff Assistant contact Jim Dewhirst to ascertain the co'st of r _ow_tiring
group insurance and the increased cost to employees.

GASOLINE STORAGE FEES:
The Board instructed Secretary to post new ra~es for storage of gasclin.e and fuel oils on
bu21etin board.
FIP~NEN'S SERVICES:
A letter of appreciation and thanks for quick and efficient service rendered by Dick sharer
and Shaun Fountain, Firemen, from Perini Corp. when worker was ~ulled during construction.
Letter was forwarded to Fire Chief, James Daw.

EBTA:
Copy of letter sent to NETA from Town Counsel requesting proposed form of Contract so a
proper Article can be drawn up for annual Town Maeting Warrant.
HERRICK ~0AD:
Selectman Guthrie informed the Board that a dangerous, traffic situation axisted on Herrick
Road, behind the Thompson School. There are no crossing g,~ards at that point am~scho~l
children, especially the Eindergarden children, are endangered crossing the road. The
voted to send letter to Chief Lawlor to have the Safety Officer investigate and send reco-
mendations on the situation.
PEP~INI CO~. PERMIT AND FEE:
The'.Selectman, Chas. Foster, Donald George, Chairman of the Gr. Law. Sanitary District,
'John Finnerau, Town Rep. to the District, and Atty. John Ford, Counsel for the District,
met and discussed for a~ hou~ and a half, the'issuance of a Stop Work Order to the Perini
Corp. for not paying $1%.,000 fee for their work permit. Foster stated that Perini had
applied for Permit and signed it but had not paid for it. The question whether to issue
Stop Order and consequences thereof wes discussed. Mr. Foster stated that Sanitary Distric~
should pay for permit with Perini funds Sanitary District is holding until work done.
