Lafond, 321 Osggod St., Pm~mnd S. Minardi, 82 Niflin Dr., and Rosario Zangr$ 58 Fernwood St. T(MN GARAGE: Chairman Coady advised the Board that at the Town Garage hearing with the Secretary of Labor and Industries they were told that the town's action in retaining certain contracts were in order and Chairman was authorized to award contract to Am~cie Construction Company, the lowest bidder. In other business, the Board granted the Highway Surveyor permission to rent needed equipment for $1000. DIGG~2~G.-PEE~IT: The Board granted permission to Nark Longo and Richard Burnett to dig for bottles on Town prop~-.ty at the end of Comnonwealth Avenue. They stated permission was granted, but the would not be liable or responsible for any injuries incurred while the boys were digging. All holes to be fill ed in. Chief Lawlor will be so advised. Fv. REFIGHTEPS PICNIC: Firefighters were granted permission to use the To~m Farm picnic area on July 13, from 9:30 am to 7:00 p.m...rain date, July 20. Chief Lawlor to be so notified. 99 NOE~H RESTAURANT, INC. Letter received from Charles Doe, Owner of the 99 North, advising the Board that an order had been placed for a fence between their property and Mr. Messina's and would be installed as soon as received. Ail employees ha.ye been instructed not to use the compactor-dumpster after closing hours. Board willsend a letter thanking him for his cooperation in solving the complaint of Mr. Messina. Copy of letter will be sent to Mr. Messing. CAMP, DRESSER & MCKEE, INC. RE SANITARY LANDFILL: Three copies of agreement for engineering services for sanitary land-fill on Holt Road ~e!ectman Guthrie motioned that it was the Board's intention to enter into a contract with Camp, Dresser & McKee sometime in July. Notion seconded. RECEIVED: Notice of price increase in deisal oil. Invitation to appreciation award.dinner, May 21. Invitation to N. A. Post 2104, V.E.W. installation of Officers, May 24. Joseph Willis, will be installed as the Judge Advocate. New England Eiver Basins Comission, May 27. Schedule for Girl's Softball practice. Our Staff Assistant, Summary of Town Meeting Articles from Town INL~STRIAL FINANCING AUTHOKKTIES: Letter from G.L. Chamber of Commerce re above-named referred to town's Industrial Commission with letter advising they prepare material for the next town meeting on the matter. TOWN COUNSEL APPOINTMENT: Letter from town counsel advised Board of Article ll passed at Town Meeting re appointment of Town Counsel. Also enclosed, his application for reappointment to the position. Board voted to send letter to l0 man committee advising they would set a date for appointment meeting after determination of Article is received from the Attorney General. FIREFIGHTER'S UNION: Copy of protest from Firefighters .Union sent to Dept. of Labor & Industries. Chairman stated a Mr. D~herty of the Dept. of Labor & Industries would get in touch with the Selectmen. MASS. FAIR SHARE ORG~TiZATION: Letter requesting statistics referred to Chief Lawlor for authenticity of company. POLICE CAR BIDS: Two companies submitted bids for 3 new Police Cars: Nassar Ford, $9,176. and Shawsheen Motors $10,281. Bids referred to Chief Lawlor to check specs and submit recommendation by nex~ meet- ing. GAS E~CAVATION PETITIONS: Petition to excavate on Sutton St. to install gas service om Sutton St. Approved. Petition to excavate to repair gas mains on several streets not approved due to recommendation of Highway Surveyor. Petition tabled. MERP~I~ACK VALLEY ~ING COMMISSION - HIGHWAY ACT: Board advised by Mr. Cyr, Planning Board were studying act at this time. He stated that he personnally was not particular about expanding urban area. The Board accepted the letter for the files. No action taken. SENIOR CITIZEN NUPSE: Dr. Kay appeared before the Board to protest the hiring of a Senior Citizen Nurse. He stated that she would not be under the Jurisdiction of the Board of Health, that the town could bein danger of ~alpractiee suits. He suggested that a nurse, Mrs. Arcannon, who is servicing citizens in the Gr. Lawrence ares under the Jurisdiction of the Lawrence General Hospital be ~tained ~ .
