McEvoy with Chairman John F. Coady presiding. The warrant and minutes were approved as submitted. TOWN LI~E RESTAUPANT: The B card approved the building addition of the North Andever, Mass. Town Line Restaurant, 30 Nassachusetts Ave., PLAYGROUND ~ST~CTOP~: Board approved the selection of the playground instructors as submitted by the Recreational Council and appointed same. Mr. NcEVoy stated the Johnson St. playground wns not quite ready due to so tach rain. But as soon as it has dried out, instructors will be assigned to the GAS E~CAVATIONS: The following petitions to excavate to install gas ~ains were approved by the Board: Autran Ave., Poor St., Summer St., Brent~ood Circle, ~arold, HiLlside Rd., High St., Mass. Ave Fernwoed Rd. and Mass. Ave. corner Osgood St. POLE LOCATION: Petition approved to remove 1 pole and install 1 pole on Phillips Court. Petition received to install Jointly-owned pole on Campbell Rd. Hearing, July 14, 7:30 p.m. -. BOARD OF APPEALS: Letter from Board of Appeals requesting e~tension of Dr. Beliveau's term to July 8. Granted. Letter from Paul E. Tsongas re ~rrimack Wastewater Management Study. Letter from Gore. Du~akis in reply to Board's letter re traffic study on Rt. 114. Traffic measures are being installed and safety recomaendations will be acted upon. '"Letter from Town Counsel re Archdiocese Low and Moderate Income Housing. T. Counsel has f~ed appeal for town to Housing Board. Letter from Town Counsel re School suit against town filed By 14 persons. Selectman Guthrie objected to the personal remarks contained in ~r. Salisbury's letter. His letters should con- tain recommendations requested and his personal comments should not appear in official letters referring to to~n business.' Letter from P~bert ~awkes re rare 1872 map of North Andever. Selectman Gnthrie stated that the map would be an interesting item to have for the town building. SELEOTMAN GUTHP~TE: Chairman Coady extended the Board's congratulations to Selectman ~nthrie on his election to the office of Vice-President of the Essex County Selectmen's Association. He also announce that there would he a meeting Thursday with a member of the Dept. of Lehor and Industries re the contract dispute between the Fire Fighters and the Town. The Board expressed their deep sympathy and condolences to the family of James Naker, former Town Treasurer, on the tragic and untimely death of their son, Richard, who drowned in Lake Winuepesauki, N. H. this week. P~BLIC WO~fS-BICENT ENNIAL The Board voted to send letter to J. Borgesi requesting that red, white and blue flags ami bunting be displayed on all town buildings, schools, etc. A letter will be sent to this to Peter V. Eossiter, Chairman of the Bicentennial Committee. FOP~ER SELECTMEN: BICETTE~r_~L: Ietter was diroctcd to be sent out to all former Selectmen to participate in.the Bicentennial Parade and activities July ~ and 6th. Former Selectmen invited are as follows: John P. Kirk, Arthur P. Kirk, Andrew F. Coffin, William B. Duffy, Jr., Willia~ A. Finneran, ~rthur A. John J. Willis, Sr., Arnold H. Salisbury, Raymond Broadhead and John H. Murray. ANNUAl APPOINTMENTS: Annual appointments were made by the Board of Selectmen with the exception of the Council On Aging - Civic Holiday Celebration Committee - Recreation Council - To~rn Report Committee - and Development & Industrial Commission. These appointments will be made at their June 30, 197~ meeting. Town Counsel appointment is still pending until approval of the mew Article is received from the Attorney General.
