Notice from CETA Program. CHAI.~ · S ACTIVITY: Thursday - accepted with Chief Lawlor, new car donated by the State. Friday - Mat with Chief Lawlor and Andover Town Manager re Police Legal Advisor, who will resign shortly. When notice received, Board authorized Chairman to advertise for applicants for the position probably on Sept. 12 to be accepted by September 30. Applicants will be interviewed by Chiefs of Andover and North Andover. Met with Town Counsel, Charles Foster and Perini Corp. Accord in meeting. LICE.~SING: Selectman Guthrie stated that in the future any applicant for a wine & malt beverage 1-day license will have to state purpose of the license, in detail. They requested J. Willis to confer with Chief Lawlor and Mr. Foster as to what peri,its they can give in re this particular license. Alice M. Letarte, Secretary ,~.-~.-~m~,~** ~~//~ C1 e rk AUGUST_ 25~ 1975 ~>~ ~ ~' '-~- The Board of Selectmen held their regular meeting on this date with Selectman Thomas J. McEvoy and Selectman Joseph A. Guthrie, Acting Chairman, for John F. Ceady who was on vacation. The minutes and warrant were approved as submitted. The special meeting called on August 18 was to draw the names of three persons to serve in Lawrence on the September 16. The~ are as follows: Herman G. Saalfrank, 314 Mass. Ave... John B. Melvin, 28 Beacon Hill Blvd .... and Marcia M. Claughton, 36 Rassett Lane.. Selectman Guthrie .made the drawings with J. Willis, J. Lyons and Sgt. John Crane as witnesses. On September 2, 1975, Selectman Joseph A. Guthrie drew the name of Jane A. McCaleb, 36 Chapin Rd. to serve on the September 8 Sitting, at Lawrence..Alice M. Letar~e and John J. LYons witnessed the drawing. (Veniere was received the past Friday, August 29, at 4:30 p.m. ) POLE LOCATION: Approved: Petition for a Joint pole location of 1 pole on Salem Street. The Selectmen approved the request of the North Andover Business Men's Association to place a banner across Main Street, August 24 through Sept. 6, advertising a Bazaar on Sept. 5 & 6. Copies sent to Chiefs Daw and Lawlor. %.rILLOW ST. SIDE.;ALK: Walter Stamp and Mr. Redman met with the Selectmen re the installation of a sidewalk on Rt. 125 from Willow Street. They stated that 11 children are in daily danger walking on the road to the school bus stop. Selectman McEvoy and J. Willis will view the site on Wednesday morning. A letter w~l be sent ~o Sherman Eidelman, District Highway Engineer, requesting a sidewalk in- st~l ed under the Topics program. STR~EI' BLOCK: Petition approved to block off Buckingham Rd from Middlesex St. to Norman Rd. on August 30: from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Copies sent to L. Lafond, Chiefs Daw and Lawlor. TR~/~SIT STUDY STEERING CO~,~: Letter sent to Stephen E. Aradas, MVPC, advising ~electmen had authorized Chairmn Coady to be the North Andover representative on the Committee. POLICE L~AL ADVISOR: Letters received from J. Maynard Austin contained copy of ad for the position of Police Legal Advisor for the two towns and information that Atty. Melia ~.M1~ continue in the position until another has been appointed.
