LANDERS LAND REQUEST: The Board authorized the Chairman to contact Town Counsel re proper procedure of selling piece of land to Landers Electrical Co. BT. 495 - Mss. Ave. Selectman Guthrie stated that vehicles coming cfr Rt. 495 crea~e possible collisions with customers departing from Bob White's restaurant. Board voted to have Chief Lawlor and J. Willis investigate possibility of having a Yield sign instsJ~led. ~tter to he discussed at Oct. 9 meeting with Chief Lawlor. SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL PLANT: Selectman ~thrie stated that H~verhiYl was objecting to the regional site. Letarte, Secretary . _ ::_ ~Clerk The Board of Selectmen held their regular meeting on this date with all members present; Selectmen Joseph A. Guthrie, Thomas J. McEvoy with Chairman John F. Coady presiding. The warrant and minutes were approved as submitted. JU.~0~S: Jurors drawn for October 6 Sitting, at Lawrence Superior Court are as follows: John E. ~Tlison, 38 Sargent St., Augustine DeParis, S2 Elm Crest Rd., Arthur J. Temple, 18 Herrick Rd. and Sahara Medici, 33 Columbia Rd. SIDBffAIX PEF~ffT: Permit granted to the Merri~ack Valley National Bank to block off sidewalk for two days during reconstruction of hank. Chief Lawlor approved with the stipulation that all necessary safety precautions were taken, well-lighted at night, etc. GAS EXCAVATION: Petition approved to excavate on Chickering ~i. for gas service for Bay State National on Chickering Rd. Police Officer required. DIRE~TOR OF ACCOUNTS: Letter from Gordon A. McGill, Director of Accounts, advised the Board that he had sent notices out to all town accountants in the Commonwealth to fill a report,"Schedule A," of finansial transactions which will be examined by the Federal Bureau of Census to determine the basis of Federal Revenue Sharing fund allocations ~o towns and cities. Be stated our town accountant had net complied with his request, to d~te. If the report is not sent in, the town will net be eligible to receive anM. Revenue Sharing funds. Selectmen directed Joe Willis to contact Town Accountant, David Boche, to expedite this report. PAVEMEET MA~XINGS: Letter from the State Department of PubLic Works advised the Board that, because of a severe reduction in pavement marking account for fiscal 1976, their department could not use depart- ment material to apply pavement markings' on nen-state highway numbered routes during calends~ -~.~. · year 1976. If town supplied materials, state would stripe non-state routes through the town if sufficient personnel and equipment are available. Copy referred to Chief Lawlor. SYDB~AIX AUTHORITY: Letter from Town Counsel stated that the Selectman of a town may, if in their Judgment the public convenience so requires, establish sidewalks in the public ways thereof and determine the grade of each site sidewalk and the materials with mbich it shall be constructed, and may order the reconstruction of existing sidewalks. No such sidewalk shall be dug up or extracted without the consent of the Selectmen. Board voted to have Joe Willis contact Highway Surveyor requesting ~uture plans for sidewalks and report hack to Board.
